Hello All,

Audrey has had several busy days. Last Monday, we took her for her second eye exam. She was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP.) This is a condition where the retina can become detached while it finishes the final stages of development. The common treatment is laser surgery to abate further retinal growth.

Chelle and I made the decision to go ahead with the surgery after consultation with several doctors and specialists who are familiar with her case.

The surgery was performed last Friday afternoon. It took about 90 minutes.

Audrey was very fussy throughout the weekend as a result. We held her nearly all hours of the day. She appeared much more calm today and was opening both eyes quite a bit.

We'll keep you posted.

All Best!

Audrey came home on February 27th. We have have had 11 great days since then. Audrey continues to eat well. She weighed 4 pounds 9 ounces at her first well baby visit to the pediatrician...emphasis on well baby. Thanks again all!

She received 5 vaccinations and was given the go-ahead for buggy rides. We've had three strolls so far, it is nice to do the things we thought would come so easy.

Chelle and I have had some lost sleep, however, Audrey is maintaining her NICU schedule very well and being a great baby.

We also made some headway on finishing Audrey's room. More on that next time.

We are creating a journal of letters to Audrey as a keepsake for her. If you would be so kind, please let her know a bit about the special people who have helped her so much. Several letters have been received and they are AWESOME!!!

Thank you very much.

Also, we are continuing to get an idea of the size of the support network that helped us through this. So far, we have identified hundreds who have been involved. I would appreciate knowing all of the names and locations of people or prayer groups who have kept Audrey and my wife Chelle in your thoughts and prayers. Please send a note stating how many folks have surrounded our family and carried us through this storm. Email addresses and locations would be helpful.

At the baby shower, our friend Jodi only had one thing to say: "Where are the feet...you promised them over a month ago!" Well, Jodi, please rest assured that we now have a scanner and the footprints were the first thing scanned. Take a look...

I will do an update weekly from this point on. Take care everybody...
